Poem

This is a poem of a girl who died at a car accident.

I went to this party, mom
I remembered what you said
You told me not to drink, mom
So I drank soda instead

I felt so proud inside, mom
Just like you said I would
Even though all my friends laughed
Mom you still said I should

I know I did the right thing, mom
I know you're always right
Now the party is over, mom
Because everybody drove out of sight

As I got into my car, mom
As I pulled into the road
The other guy didn't see me, mom
And hit me like a load

I'm laying here on the pavement, mom
I heard the policeman say
The other guy was drunk, mom
So I'm the one to pay

I'm laying here dying, mom
I wish you would gat here soon
Why did this happen to me, mom
My life busted like a balloon

There is blood all around me, mom
Most of it is mine
I heard the paramedic say, mom
I'll die in a short time

He didn't know what he was doing, mom
He was probably at the same party as I
The only difference, mom
Is - he drank and I died

Why do people drink, mom
It can ruin your whole life
I'm feeling sharpe pains, mom
Pains just like a knife

The guy who hit me is walking now
I don't think it's fair
I'm lying here dying, mom
While all he does is stare

Tell my brother not to cry, mom
Tell daddy to be brave
When I'm in heaven, mom
Right daddy's baby on my grave

Someone should have told him, mom
Not to drink and drive
If they would have taken the time, mom
I would still be alive

My breath is becoming shorter, mom
I'm becoming very scared
Please don't cry for me, mom
Because when I needed you, you were there

I have one last question to ask, mom
Before I say goodbye
I didn't drink, mom
So why am I the one to die

This is the end, mom
I wish I could look you in the eyes
To tell you those final words, mom
I love you and goodbye

I don't know the girl who wrote this poem, but please be aware of what you do when you drink AND drive. Let her message be yours, and spread it.

Thank you.
